The feeling behind the Little Range comes from the kitchens we grew up around: a chair pulled up, something warm in the oven, time for a chat, and a spoon worth waiting for.

Its rounded edges, familiar handles and cheerful colours borrow from those rooms. Only now your child is the cook, and you’re the one being handed a cup of pretend tea and a very serious explanation of how it was made.

We’re making it here in Sydney from Australian hoop pine plywood, with the layers left visible. It can change rooms, move house and wait for the next child.

They’ll see somewhere to make you breakfast. You’ll see the ply layers at the edge, the rounded corners and the hidden fixings. We designed for both.

A PIECE OF FURNITURE

Made for a place in your home.

We make the Little Range the way we’d make furniture for our own home, down to the tucked-away fixings. The cupboards open, the wooden knobs turn, and dinner is whatever they say it is. It’s children’s furniture you don’t have to hide when the game is over.

REAL TIMBER, RIGHT THROUGH

Good wood, softly rounded.

Australian hoop pine marine-grade plywood runs right through the kitchen. The layers are the real thing, with no pretend wood print to peel away. Every edge and corner is rounded so the timber feels as good under hand as it looks.

PAINTED BY HAND

Colour to grow up with.

Each painted kitchen is finished by hand in a hard-wearing two-pack coating. The worktop, doors, knobs and wooden tap are painted in the same two colours, so the kitchen reads as one piece. The colours come from old enamel cookers, the sort with a tea towel over the handle.

Built for years of play, and to be passed on. Furniture connectors and threaded inserts let the kitchen come apart and go back together without repeatedly driving screws into the timber. New room, new house, younger sibling.
